The Stamford Senior Center is a 501(c)(3) Non profit, non sectarian organization established in 1996 to help serve the needs of Stamford's older adult population.
To provide affordable opportunities for older adults in the greater Stamford area to be active and healthy in mind and body and remain connected to their community in a welcoming , safe and diverse environment.
The SSC seeks to meaningfully enrich the lives of older adults in the greater Stamford area.
The SSC has 800 members and over 150 older adults take part in a variety of programs each day at the Stamford Senior Center. We offer twelve exercise classes per week including Zumba, Zumba Gold, Tai Chi, Yoga and Aerobics. We also offer several art classes each week led by local artists who help our members enhance their skills.
Our Hispanic Elders program provides Spanish speaking members with English classes, social services and socialization. We also offer a depth of Health and Wellness lectures and other expert speakers on aging issues.
Our members don't just come for the programs, they come to share a meal or a cup of coffee with friends, new and old. The Center is a home away from home for our members and provides them with a place to come to everyday where they feel safe and welcomed.
George Bernard Shaw said it best when he said...
"We don't stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing."
Our goal is simple... to keep you young at heart, connected and contributing to your community each and everyday.
We invite you to come and see what we are all about!
